The Perfect Gift
by Diana Washington
Gift giving this time of the year is expected from friends, family, and co-workers. Nice gifts are preferred rather than thoughtless gifts. The better you know a person may mean receiving a precious gift. On the other hand, a person with less desirable traits may get a poor gift. God is not like man-He gives good gifts. Regardless of the receiver-He desires that we have the best-The perfect Gift. This perfect gift is his only son-JESUS. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16).
Shopping for our children, family, and friends can be stressful. Picking up items, inspecting them, and later returning them can cause stress for the store worker and ourselves. Nothing is wrong with giving our best. However, we should not forget the REAL meaning of this season-The birth of Jesus-The Perfect Gift. For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6).
This gift is perfect-
Hebrews 4:15 For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.
This gift changes lives
2 Cor. 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
This gift brings joy
Luke 2:10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
Let’s remember the reason for this wonderful season. As we share with our family, friends, coworkers, remember the perfect Gift. Let’s worship Him and share Him with others as we give.
Let’s Pray: Father, today I thank you for who you are and what you have done. You have given the world the Perfect Gift-Your Son-Jesus. Thank you for showing me how to love and give to others. Amen.
